Principle of Emptiness
It all begins with Emptiness is medicine.
Disintegration is a form of remembrance.
If there were gaps in your development,
if there were injuries and losses,
Acknowledge them.
Whatever was missing along the way
reach into the empty spaces
and beyond them.
The greatest gifts are given
Where there is enough space to receive them.
The loss of what we love is inevitable.
Every loss, every hole is also a window.
Look through the holes and the cracks
at the inexpressible presence of life and death
that abides within them.
Give up expectations of how things should be,
Look without judgment.
Everywhere we look are ten thousand examples of impermanence.
Everything we encounter is both a presence and an absence
simultaneously a love and a loss
a longing and its fulfillment.
It is not presence or absence that illuminates
but the span between them,
the continuum of consciousness
which includes every experience.
Don't pretend that there are no holes,
no losses or lacks.
Let your yearnings come and go
acknowledge them
let them arise fully in your consciousness.
Whatever seems to be missing
is a path of development.
Accept the one life that is yours.
Be vulnerable to it.
Let life shape you.
Look through the holes and the cracks.
In every absence is a presence.
By accepting the missing pieces
And not looking away
You can glimpse an underlying equilibrium.
It is a strange teacher;
the principle of emptiness.
Examples of its teachings
are everywhere.
The world is beautiful and terrible.
Through acknowledging presence and absence
You are made whole.
The broken path is the way home.
